How to get a Mega Seed
Mega Seeds cannot be bought at all. They spawn on the map during a Mega Moon, which occurs at just 2% per night phase and lasts 2 minutes — the rarest of the four special night moons.
For comparison across a night phase: Normal 77%, Gold 13%, Rainbow 6%, Blood 2%, Mega 2%.
Spawn chance rises with player count and is higher in public servers.
What a Mega Seed grows
The in-game text reads: "When planted, grows a random large Seed Shop plant."
A larger version of any non-limited crop begins to grow. Limited crops are excluded from the pool.
Mega Moon also changes you
Mega Moon has a second documented effect that catches people out: it enlarges your avatar for the duration, not just the plants.
