How to get a Gold Seed
There is no way to buy one in-game. Gold Seeds spawn on the map during a Gold Moon, which occurs at 13% per night phase and lasts 2 minutes. You pick them up off the ground.
Spawn rate scales with player count and is higher in public servers than private ones. They cannot spawn with fewer than 2 players in the server, so solo private-server farming does not work.
What a Gold Seed grows
The in-game effect text reads: "When planted, grows a random gold Seed Shop plant."
You get a random Seed Shop plant in its gold variant, and rarer plants have a rarer chance to appear. Planting a Gold or Rainbow Seed guarantees a mutation on the resulting crop.
Gold Moon, also called Midas Moon
The same event goes by two names — the game's weather page calls it Gold Moon, while the Gold Seed article and most guides call it Midas Moon. Same thing.
During it, golden meteors drop and players can gain a "Midas touch" effect that turns their first steal golden.
The Gold mutation multiplier
The Gold mutation multiplies value by 10x.
You will see 15x quoted widely. That figure appears on several large sites but does not match the game's own mutations page, which lists 10x. We are publishing 10x and flagging the disagreement rather than picking the more popular number.
Natural Gold chance without a Gold Seed: 1% on fruit, 0.1% on plants.
