How Grow a Garden 2 Actually Works

The numbers behind Grow a Garden 2's economy, taken from the game's own mechanics documentation rather than inferred from observation.

The sell price formula

Price = SellValue × SizeFactor × SizeMultiplier × MutationMultiplier × DecayPenalty × FriendsBonus, rounded down.

A per-crop minimum is applied last — a Carrot never sells below 4, however small it is.

Size is the biggest lever, and it is not linear

SizeFactor = Size2.5 for almost every crop.

That exponent is steep. A fruit 50% larger sells for about 176% more; one at double size for roughly 5.7×.

Two crops override it: Mushroom uses 1.9 and Bamboo 1.75, so oversized specimens of those are worth proportionally less.

Above size 5, diminishing returns apply and the exponent drops to 1.5. Enormous fruit are still worth more, just on a flatter curve.

Fruit size tiers

TierMultiplier
Normal×1
Big×2
Mega×4

Do not confuse these with the Big / Mega / Rainbow pet variants. That is a separate system that happens to share the words — these multiply a fruit's sale price, those change a pet's ability strength.

Single-harvest crops get 15% of a mutation

This clause changes mutation strategy completely and is published nowhere else:

effectiveMut = 1 + (raw − 1) × 0.15 for single-harvest crops.

An 80× Eclipsed on a single-harvest crop is worth 12.85×. A 30× Rainbow is worth 5.35×.

Save high mutations for multi-harvest crops, which take the full multiplier.

The Fruit Stock system

A separate multiplier applies per crop at sale time, ranging from 0.8× to 4×, refreshing every 10 minutes.

That is a fivefold swing on identical fruit depending purely on when you sell. If a harvest seems worth less than expected, this is usually why — and waiting ten minutes can genuinely be worth more than harvesting more.

A global sell multiplier and per-crop multipliers apply on top. Mushroom sells at 0.5× its calculated value by default, which no value list mentions.

Friends add 10% each

FriendsBonus = 1 + friends × 0.1, counting friends playing on the same server.

Four friends on your server is a flat 40% on everything you sell — larger than most gear upgrades, and free.

Common questions

How is sell price calculated in Grow a Garden 2?

Price = SellValue × SizeFactor × SizeMultiplier × MutationMultiplier × DecayPenalty × FriendsBonus, rounded down, with a per-crop minimum applied last.

Does size affect price in Grow a Garden 2?

Heavily. SizeFactor is Size to the power of 2.5, so a 50% larger fruit sells for about 176% more. Mushroom uses 1.9 and Bamboo 1.75.

Do mutations work on single-harvest crops?

Only at 15% strength. The game applies effectiveMut = 1 + (raw − 1) × 0.15, so an 80× mutation becomes 12.85× on a single-harvest crop.

What is Fruit Stock in Grow a Garden 2?

A sell multiplier from 0.8× to 4× applied per crop, refreshing every 10 minutes. It is a fivefold swing on identical fruit depending on when you sell.
