Which Pets Are Worth It in Grow a Garden 2
Pet guides usually rank by rarity, which tells you what is hard to get rather than what is useful. Roles matter more.
The roles, and what they are for
Mutator — Unicorn, Golden Dragonfly, Shadow Dragon. These change your baseline mutation odds permanently, which is the highest-leverage thing a pet can do.
Thief — Fox, Red Panda, Raccoon, Kitsune. These take from other gardens at night. The Kitsune is the standout because it applies Chakra to what it steals.
Defender — Bee, Bear, Bald Eagle, Ice Serpent, Hedgehog, Dog. Only active at night.
Farming / Harvester — Monkey, Robin, Butterfly, Firefly, Swan and others. These speed up or automate collection.
Mutators have the most leverage
A Defender protects a garden for two minutes in every ten. A Harvester saves you clicks. A Mutator changes the value of everything you grow, permanently.
The Unicorn doubles Rainbow chance (30×), the Golden Dragonfly doubles Gold (10×), and the Shadow Dragon applies Veil when you plant — though the Veil multiplier is disputed and we do not publish a figure for it.
Half of them are idle most of the time
Every Defender and every Thief only acts at night — two minutes in every ten. That is worth knowing before you pay for one.
Farming and Mutator pets work continuously, which makes them better value per Sheckle even at the same rarity.
Rarity is not usefulness
The Kitsune is the only Secret-tier pet, and by Roblox's own achievement data the Shadow Dragon is roughly 470 times rarer than baseline. Neither fact tells you whether they suit how you play.
